WELCOME PROFESSOR MINEIRO!
Professor Marcelo “Mineiro” Bonani Carneiro joins the CheckMat Thrive team from Brazil.
He began his training in 1999 under master George Augusto in Minas Gerais state, Brazil. He then moved to San Paulo state in 2003 and joined TT (the Terere/Telles Team) where he shared mats with world champions Rubens Cobrinha, Fernando Terere, Eduardo Telles and Andre Galvao.
Mineiro trained under world renowned Masters Leandro and Leonardo Vieira and earned his Black Belt in 2008.
In 2014 Mineiro received an invitation from Leandro Vieira to join the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) and help train UFC Champion fighter Leonardo Mafra. After winning the championship in Rio, Mineiro continued on Mafra’s team in Glasgow.
Minero’s coaching led him around the world to help train teammates at CheckMat Ireland (Dublin), and Checkmat Finland (Forssa). He then went on to compete for the London Fight Factory in the IBJJF and won his division of the London Fall International Open.
Professor Minero now trains Bellator Fighters and coaches adult and children’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes at Checkmat Thrive in Fresno, CA.
